Moving to Ireland in 2021?

Posted December 3, 2020 in Sonas News

With Covid travel restrictions making regular visits home difficult, we are seeing a notable increase in permanent relocations to Ireland. Interestingly, of all placements made here at Sonas in 2020, over 19% of jobs were filled by those returning to Ireland. With construction companies catapulted into the digital age in terms of recruitment, all of these placements originated with Zoom/MS Teams interviews and many had job offers secured before moving to Ireland.

As we head into 2021, the construction & civil engineering sector will have an important role to play in Ireland’s economic recovery. This sector will kick start the economic recovery with major government investment planned for social housing, water infrastructure, road network improvements and renewable energy infrastructure. With this comes a demand for Construction & Engineering talent.

And if you are moving home to be close to family, there are plenty of job opportunities outside of Dublin. The Project Ireland 2040 plan is heavily focused on regional development and we’re starting to see the effects of this in Sonas when we look at the demographic spread of our placements for 2020 so far:

Greater Dublin Area31%
Rest of Leinster34%
Munster13%
West of Ireland22%

There are some very interesting projects also both ongoing & planned throughout Ireland. Here are a flavour of those:

For more details on Ireland’s Pipeline of Major Infrastructure Projects the full report issued by the Irish Government is available here.

If a move to Ireland is something you are considering in 2021, we’d be delighted to have a chat in advance. We could discuss your potential timeline, queries on the market, salaries available and keep you updated on opportunities that arise in your preferred locations.

Hopefully we speak soon.
