Kildare County Council gave permission to the bloodstock auctioneer to construct a four-star 50-bedroom facility, adjacent to the companies current property.
This €10m investment comes an effort to lure tourists and racegoers in & to create an additional stream of revenue for the company.
They want to utilize the extra space that they have at their disposal to build more facilities in the future which will better the experience of tourists & visitors.
The auctioneer intends spending €10 million building a 50-bedroom facility in partnership with Kildare Hotel Opportunities, a company owned by businessmen Eoin Doyle and Ray Byrne.
The partnership hopes the equine-themed hotel will attract the auctioneer’s own clients, racegoers attending nearby racetracks, the Curragh, Naas and Punchestown, as well as tourists.
“We believe the proposed equine theme for the hotel will prove very popular with racegoers attending the three Kildare race tracks and visitors to the many equine and retail attractions in the county,”Eimear Mulhearn, Goffs’ chairwoman
The partnership believe the venture will “add significantly to the county’s tourism and hospitality infrastructure”.
The county council pointed out that Kildare is renowned worldwide for its thoroughbred breeding and racing, which is advantageous for the marketing of the hotel to racegoers.
